Why commission an artwork?

Every person has a unique and beautiful story to tell.

Imagine coming home every day to be greeted by beautiful and meaningful art capturing your loved ones, your memories, your stories and your favourite things…

I know firsthand how joyful it is to surround yourself with heartfelt art that captures the essence of who you are and what is important to you. My home is filled with such joys - portraits of my children, landscape paintings of places from my travels, and fun paintings inspired by vintage photographs.

I would love the opportunity to work with you to create custom, heartfelt art so that you can also experience the joy, connection, and personality that original art can bring to a home.

Whether you want to honour someone important to you, capture a special relationship or moment, relive your experience of a special place, or just express yourself and your thoughts - I would feel delighted to be your visual storyteller.

Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness.
— Anni Albers

What mediums do you work in?

I enjoy working on both quality mixed media or watercolour paper, board and stretched canvas.

While my origins lie in working with acrylic paints, I now love combining a variety of different media, including acrylic paints, pencils, ink, pastels and charcoal, to create a piece that has energy, life, and layers of interest and texture.

How do you make heartfelt art?

Heartfelt art is born of shared understanding and passion. It is given life through you sharing your precious stories and photos, and through me sharing my passion for assisting others to experience the joy of original art, and of creating a home that is a place of true expression, joy and sanctuary.

To create work that is meaningful and resonates strongly with you, I must first understand the significance of the subject you have chosen for the artwork, as well a little bit about you, or the recipient, if the work is intended as a gift.

What is important to you? What are you hoping the artwork will bring to your life? What feeling or mood would you like the artwork to invoke? Is there a colour palette in your home that may need to be taken into account? The more I understand you and your needs, the easier it becomes for me to create an artwork that will speak (or sing) to you!

As well as thinking about the subject you would like featured in the artwork, I suggest that you also look through the artwork on my site and take note of the artworks that speak to you, and capture your attention or heart. Think about whether you would prefer an artwork on artist paper or a work on canvas or wood panel, what size you might be looking for, whether there is a timeframe in which you need the artwork, etc…

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE?

I know that the idea of commissioning an artwork seems somewhat daunting and, understanding this, I have created a commission process with the customer’s experience firmly at the centre. After discussing the concept for the artwork, including materials and size, I will develop a written quote, which you are most welcome to accept or not accept. If you feel the quote is a little more than you can commit to, I welcome the opportunity to discuss a different concept or develop a payment plan. It brings me great joy to create art for others, so I would love to work with you…

Make it yours.
